Having returned to in-person learning, whether full-time or in a hybrid setting, schools are faced with enhancing safety protocols, addressing teacher shortages, dealing with student conflict, and more. Therefore, it is critical for educators and parents to come together and discuss ways to create safe, caring, and supportive, learning environments so all students can thrive.

Through the TODAY Matters: Be Seen. Be Heard. Be Present. webinar series, the Newark Trust for Education, South Ward Promise Neighborhood, Teach for America, North Star Academy, RWJ Barnabas, and Great Oaks Charter School aim to ensure that every student shows up to school, is ready to learn, and is well supported.

The next webinar will be held on Wednesday, March 2 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm and addresses how educators and adults can create mentally safe spaces for learners, as well as how to recognize signs of mental health distress in children. Presenters include Clinician Mario A. Menjiva and School Psychologist of the Youth Development Clinic Dr. Jeniffer Cruz.
