About the Victoria Public School Grants Program

Victoria Foundation grant-making related to Newark’s public schools is now managed by four local intermediary organizations:

Arts Ed Newark – for grants related to arts education
Newark Thrives! – for grants related to STEAM efforts
Newark Trust for Education – for grants related to social/emotional learning
Schools That Can Newark – for grants related to college access and success

As of 2018 Victoria Foundation no longer accepts letters of intent or proposals directly from public schools or school management organizations in Newark. The advantages of having intermediary organizations conduct grant-making on behalf of the foundation are increased opportunities for capacity building sessions related to evaluation, program enhancement and fundraising, and convening school leaders to share best practices.

Field Trip New Jersey: Grant Opportunity

Field trips have the power to awaken, hush, awe, enrich and change lives of our children by taking students out of familiar surroundings into new places, connecting classroom learning with real-life experiences and enabling them to envision themselves as future college students, researchers, artists, and leaders. But it has become difficult for schools to fund learning opportunities outside schools.

The Pi Chubb Field Trip Fund, established in honor of long-time Victoria Foundation leader Percy Chubb, will ensure that children in Newark experience the transformative power of field trips for years to come.  This is a pool of funds provided by Victoria Foundation and managed by the Community Foundation of New Jersey to support new and enriching experiences for Newark youth.
