Shayvonne Anderson was born and raised in Newark and attended Newark Public Schools. She is the mother of ten children who attended public schools in Newark. Shayvonne is also a survivor of domestic violence abuse, a mentor for young women, and a soon to be published author. She is founder of Healing Her, a Woman’s Abuse Support Organization, mentor for Big Brother/Big Sisters of NJ and a parent and education advocate.
Shayvonne is running for the Newark Board of Education because she believes that great schools are the bedrock of great communities. On the school board, she will make Newark Schools more accountable to families, and will advocate for every child in Newark the way she has for her children, especially for Special Needs and At-Risk Youth.
