Ross Danis, President & CEO
Ross Danis is a forward-thinking New Jersey educator with over 30 years experience as a reform-minded teacher, staff developer, supervisor of instruction, principal, district administrator, foundation program director, and university associate dean.
Currently serving as the inaugural President and CEO of the Newark Trust for Education, Dr. Danis is known as a scholar-practitioner who “walks the talk” when it comes to preparing teachers to transform lives, and school leaders to create and manage change. He is deeply committed to creating community education systems where all children achieve and succeed.
Tynesha McHarris, Director of Programs & Community Engagement

Tynesha’s professional and personal journey has provided her the opportunity to engage many groundbreaking educational and community-based projects in the city of Newark and beyond. Tynesha’s work in Newark began in 2005 when she accepted the position of Program Manager for a Juvenile Reentry Program under the auspices of the Fund for Community & Leadership Development and Bethany Cares, Inc.
In that role, she developed and implemented a highly successful reentry program for young men serving sentences with the Juvenile Justice Commission of NJ. Within two years of her initial position, and at the age of twenty-one, Tynesha was promoted to the role of Managing Director of Bethany Cares, Inc. where her responsibilities included overall administration of the organizational, staffing, programmatic and budgetary aspects of the community-based organization.
